Jacobs Now A 49er

Hey All,

The San Francisco 49ers are in love with the New York Giants. As they acquired yet another Giant to their roster. Brandon Jacobs was signed to a 1 year contract deal with the 9ers.

Jacobs has been trying to leave New York for some time now, and finally he got his chance to do so. The only problem I have with this deal is that Jacobs wanted to become a feature back and not be a back up. But that's exactly what he is now with the 49ers. Frank Gore is the feature back in San Francisco, and he always will be. Jacobs is just going to ride the bench and come in as needed to give Gore a breather.

In my opinion this wasn't a terrible move for Jacobs. He's going to a team where he has a chance to get his third ring. But he had a pretty good chance to win another one with New York.

All in all Jacobs will be doing the same thing that he was doing in San Francisco that he did in NY. Riding the bench, and backing up the feature guy. He just wanted to go to a team who had the best chance to get a ring. I can't wait to see how he is used if he is used at all.

Today Was The Day

Hey All,

If you are like me, your eyes were glued to ESPN to see where Peyton would end up going. Well today was the day it was finally announced that Manning would be the new QB of the Denver Broncos.

Today Manning stood next to owner John Elway holding his new bright orange Broncos jersey. This couldn't be a happier day for anyone than Manning. He has a new deal in place, he now knows who he will be playing for, and he can start getting himself back into shape to play and win this season. Manning agreed to a 5 year $96 million contract with the Broncos. He is guaranteed to make $18 million this season, after this season though it gets a little tricky. Manning in 2013 and 2014 is scheduled to make $20 million in each of those season provided he passes a physical 10 days before the season will start. This trend will continue for the rest of his contract.

Manning said it will take some time for him to get back into football shape, with lifting weights and getting into a routine like he had the past 14 years in Indianapolis. Manning turned down playing for probably the best team that was looking to land him on their team in San Francisco. If he would have went there, he would of had and experienced receiving core, a great line, a great running game, and a great young Defense that almost made it to the Super Bowl last season. Plus I thought it would be cool to see Manning throwing to Moss this season. If those two would have gotten together, they would have broke more records then Moss and Brady did just a few seasons ago.
All in all Manning made the choice that we all have to live with. I think it might be a good thing see how there will be not as much Tebow talk as there was, even though the team is looking to trade him now which will bring up more talking. That's neither hear nor there, Manning is the new QB of the Broncos and I can't wait to see what happens once the season gets underway.

Until next time,

Stewart holds off Johnson

Hey all,

Last Sunday in Los Vagus NASCAR Sprint Cup was in town and had all the makings of a great race.

Pole sitter Casey Kahane had a fast car when he was out by himself, but when he got back into traffic, that was a different story. Kyle Bush had the second spot locked in until a wreck in practice caused him to go to a back up car, and move to the back of the pack. This was good news for Dale Jr who was fourth, but due to this got moved to the front row.

Jr took off from the start and lead a lot of laps to begin with. Jr had a fast car all day, but like Kahane was only fast when he was in clean air. Jr with some troubles in the pits ended up with a top 20 finish and is still on track to contend for another Sprint Cup Championship.

The real star in Sundays race was that of Tony Stewart. Stewart had the fastest car on the track all day, and made sure he flexed his mussels to show everyone that last year was not a fluke.

The last 20 laps of the race was the most exciting. In that span of time there was 4 wrecks, 4 cautions, and 1 lead change. Stewart was not going to go away without a fight. He had 5 time in a row Sprint Cup Champion Jimmy Johnson coming, and coming fast. The last 3 laps Johnson gave Stewart a run for his money, but Stewart's spotters and all around amazing driving gave Stewart the edge to hold off the surging Johnson and pick up his first win of the season.

All around this was an exciting race from start to finish. In the end cooler heads prevailed and smoke walked away with a win. There wasn't the fireworks of a jet drier blowing up, but the excitement of great fast racing. The only thing that will probably trump this race, is short track racing at Bristol this Sunday. I can't wait to see the outcome of this race, and will keep you up to date as it happens.

Until next time,

12 Teams Looking At Peyton

Hey All,

Just a quick update on the most talented free agent out there. There are now 12 teams that are actively looking at Peyton Manning. Some of those 12 teams have already been in contact with Peyton; Arizona, Seattle, Washington, Miami, Kansas City, Denver, and the New York Jets.

Now it is tough to say where Peyton will end up, but out of these teams, I can rule out at least 3 of them. For starters the New York Jets. They already have a franchise QB in Sanchez, and I don't think Peyton and old Rex Ryan will get along to well. The Only reason they are in contact with Manning is probably to put a fire under their current QB to get him to play better. Other than that, I really don't see a reason for Manning to end up in New York. Everyone is just raving about the idea so that they can say "The Manning brothers own New York".

The second team I would rule out is Denver. Now I know Peyton is the only one out there who could put an end to Tim Tebow's rain at QB, and maybe get people to stop talking about him as much. There's just not a good fit between the two. Tebow would have his feelings hurt not being the QB everyone has to talk about, and Manning wouldn't be able to run his offense. So there for Denver is out.

The third team I see being out of the equation is that of the Seattle Seahawks. This is kind of a stretch seeing how Seattle doesn't have a proven QB. Don't get me wrong Tarvaris Jackson is good, he's just not what I would consider a franchise QB. The problem with Seattle for Peyton is that there is no one for him to throw the ball to, and he can't turn around and hand the ball to Marshawn Lynch every down. In other words Seattle is out.

With these three gone that leaves; Miami, Arizona, Kansas City, and Washington that Manning is probably interested in. In my last post I ruled out two of these four teams, Arizona and Washington. This now leaves us with two teams that have the upper hand in singing Peyton, Kansas City and Miami. Now we already know who I think he will go to, and that's the Miami Dolphins. They have proven receivers, a good running game, and are a team on the rise. Something Peyton can work with, and push the team to where they want to be. Now that's not to say that I completely rule out Kansas City.

Kansas City has a lot of weapons on the Offensive side of the ball. At QB they have Kyle Orton a guy easily replaceable, I mean lets be honest Tebow basically took his job in Denver. At the receiver position they have Dwayne Bowe and Steve Breaston two receivers who can do some damage. Bowe ended last season with 81 rec. 1,159 Yards rec. and 5 TD's. Not to mention that he can get it done down the field, something that will please Peyton very well. Plus they have a pretty solid running game so it'll give him a break every now and again. So I see the Chief making a run for Peyton but I don't see them landing him.

I will be sure to keep you up to date with everything that happens with this on going story. Peyton has told the press that he plans on making a decision within the week.

Until next time

Manning No Longer A Colt

Hey All,

Tomorrow is the day the all of America has been waiting for. Tomorrow is the decision of if Payton Manning stays a Colt or not. Sources tell ESPN that tomorrow the Colts owner will be telling the rest of the world what they already knew was coming. Manning will be released and able to market himself to what ever team he so chooses. The only question is now, where will he end up?

ESPN's Adam Schefter has narrowed it down to 4 teams. Miami, Washington, Arizona, and New York Jets are all possible landing points for Manning. The only problem now is, no one knows what's going on inside Manning's head as to where he wants to play. There are two that stick out in my head as good fits for Peyton. Miami is the first choice. They had a good year last year, they have put together a team that can be great, and have a lot of talent that everyone knows Manning can work with. The last thing is Miami has been like a second home to Manning. He has a residence there, and I'm sure that the Dolphins will be doing everything in their power to get him there.

Washington is the next choice I see Manning ending up. Colts owner says that Manning is more of a politician rather than a football player, and the Redskins can make a pitch that they can make him the most powerful man in Washington, other than the President.

Out of these two I see Miami having the edge over the Skins for a few reasons. One, Peyton already has a home there, so it's not like he would have really move to a new city. Two the team has both the financial aspect that he is looking for, and they also have the talent that Manning can do some damage with. With all these factors falling into place, I see Manning "Taking his talents to South Beach".

The only thing we can do now is sit and wait for his decision on where he will play next season. I don't see this being a long drawn out thing, but I do see Peyton taking his time and making the best decision for him and his career.
