Heat Big 3 Is too Much

Hey All,

Tonight the Miami Heat took on the New York Knicks in game 2 of the NBA Playoffs. The Heat handled the Knicks in game one, and expected them to play a little better in game 2. They played better, but it still wasn't good enough to take down the Heat. The Heat won the game 104-94 to take a 2-0 lead over the Knicks in the series. Let's see how the big 3 played in this game, along with the rest of the Heat, as well as the Knicks.

Dwyane Wade scored 25 points, Chris Bosh added 21, LeBron James finished with 19 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for the Heat, who lead the Eastern Conference first-round series 2-0,sending the Knicks to an NBA-record-tying 12th straight postseason loss.Consecutive baskets by James midway through the third quarter, the second of those good enough for him to merit it worthy of a chest-bump and long look at the Knicks bench, put Miami up 67-56 then its biggest lead. Four minutes later, the Knicks were within four, a dunk by Chandler making it 72-68 with 1:37 left in the period.Miami's margin was back to nine after a flurry ended the quarter. James drove right and got just about every Knick to shift with him, leaving Battier all alone for a 3-pointer, and James' three-point play as the shot clock was running down had him laughing and the Heat up 78-69 going into the fourth. The Knicks would never get any closer to the Heat from here on in.

Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points on 12-for-26 shooting for New York, which got 18 points from Amare Stoudemire and 13 apiece from Tyson Chandler and J.R. Smith. The only other team to lose 12 straight playoff games is the Memphis Grizzlies, who dropped their first dozen postseason contests from 2004 through 2006.Baron Davis, who sat most of the first half and has been battling back issues, finished with 12 points for the Knicks.Anthony opened with an 11-shot quarter — the last time someone took more in the first 12 minutes of a playoff game was May 15, 2006, when Richard Hamilton got 12 shots off for Detroit against Cleveland. Anthony missed all seven of the jumpers he took in Game 1 when guarded by James, then got his first one to fall on the game's first possession Monday.By halftime, Anthony was up to 21 points on 9-for-18 shooting, the Knicks needing all that and more. Now unlike in game 1 of this series, the game wasn't over at halftime, and the Knicks still had a chance to possibly win this game. The game heated up from here, but the Knicks heat couldn't beat the Miami Heat. New York's last postseason win came April 29, 2001. The Knicks get another chance to snap the drought Thursday when they host Game 3.

I am excited to see what happens in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference and will be keeping you up to date after every Heat game throughout the Playoffs.

Until next time,

New Saints Controversial Allegations

Hey All,

I know I've been posting a lot, but there has been a lot going on, and I just want to make sure I keep you up to date with everything that is going on. Today we will be talking about the new Controversy going on with the New Orleans Saints. If it's not one thing it's something else that they are trying to dig up, and tear this organization apart. This has to be the crazies story that they could have ever made up about the Saints.

If it's not Bounty Gate scandal, it's ear pieces in the GM's ear listening to the other teams play calls. ESPN has got an anonymous tip that in 2002 through 2004, the Saints GM was suppose to have an ear piece so that he could eavesdrop on the opponents while at the Superdome.

Now before I even get into what both parties have said to this I have to say, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Isn't it time that the NFL stop focusing on what they Saints did or did not do in the past, and what is going on with the draft coming up on Thursday. I know this is a much bigger thing then the draft, but it is so far fetched that I don't even know what to say to that. If I were the Saints, I'm not to sure how I would react to this. To think that this is believable, you would have to be a pretty dumb individual. I'm sorry to those that the previous statement just offended, but it's the truth and you can't tell me otherwise. In order for this to be true, and to help out the Saints the GM would have to know the language of every other team in the NFL, get the call, decode what it means, radio it down to the coaches on the sidelines, and hope and pray that they get it to the players in time to change the call on the field so that it could work to their advantage. Now, I just don't see there being enough time for all that to happen and it be effective. Now that I got that off my chest, let's hear what the Saints and others had to say about this.

The New Orleans Saints denied an anonymously sourced ESPN report on Monday which alleges that general manager Mickey Loomis' booth in the Superdome was wired so he could listen to opposing coaches' radio communications during games. ESPN could not determine if the system was ever used. The report on Monday's "Outside the Lines" said Loomis would have been able to eavesdrop on opponents from 2002 to 2004. The report also said the system was disabled in 2005, when the Superdome was heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Saints spokesman Greg Bensel called the report "1,000 percent false."

"We asked ESPN to provide us evidence to support their allegations and they refused," Bensel said. "The team and Mickey are seeking all legal recourse regarding these false allegations."Loomis explained his use of an earpiece and described his game-day setup in the Superdome booth in an emailed statement.
"I have a monitor in front of me in my booth that provides the league issued stats for the game," Loomis stated. "I have a small TV with the network broadcast and I have an earpiece to listen to the WWL-AM radio game broadcast. To think I am sitting in there listening and actually ... doing something with the offensive and defensive play calls of the opposing teams makes this story and the unnamed sources that provided the false information that much more less credible," Loomis' statement continued. "It just didn't happen."

Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett was the Saints' head coach from 2000 through 2005. In a comment the Saints forwarded to the AP by email, Haslett denied knowledge of any system that would have allowed for eavesdropping on opponents.
"At no time during my tenure as head coach with the New Orleans Saints did Mickey and I discuss monitoring opposing team coaches communication, nor did I have any knowledge of this," Haslett said. "To my knowledge this concept was never discussed or utilized."

If the Saints had installed a system allowing them to listen in on their opponents it would have violated NFL rules and also could have infringed on federal wire-tapping laws.
"We were not aware of it," league spokesman Greg Aiello said. "We have no knowledge of the allegations."
FBI spokeswoman Sheila Thorne said the agency's New Orleans office was aware of the situation, but wouldn't comment further.

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten in New Orleans also said his office had been told about "general allegations" involving the Saints and possible wiretapping, but he did not elaborate. Letten declined to discuss who made the allegations, and whether they involved Loomis or any other Saints officials.

For the Saints, the report in itself added to a slew of recent bad publicity, which began in early March when the NFL released a report describing a crunch-for-cash bounty system that provided improper cash bonuses to defensive players who delivered hits that hobbled targeted opponents.

Commissioner Roger Goodell has suspended head coach Sean Payton for the entire 2012 season in connection with the bounty probe. Loomis was suspended for the first half of the regular season and assistant head coach Joe Vitt was suspended six games.

The team also lost its second-round pick in this week's NFL draft and was fined $500,000. Goodell took away the Saints' second-round pick in 2013 as well, but has said he may lessen that punishment if he is satisfied with the club's cooperation in the ongoing investigation.

The NFL still has yet to hand down punishment to between 22 and 27 current and former Saints defensive players whom the league has said participated in the bounty program.

Notre Dame D-End Transfers

Hey All,

As most of you know, it is a critical part of the year for college football. With spring ball happening, teams recruiting for next season, and players transferring to other schools. This is going to be the topic for this next blog; transfers, with the focus being on Notre Dame.

Defensive end Aaron Lynch, who left Notre Dame last week has transferred to the University of South Florida.

Lynch, who led Notre Dame with 5.5 sacks as a freshman in 2011, signed his scholarship paperwork on Monday. When he left Notre Dame, Lynch expressed a desire to play closer to his home town of Fort Myers Florida. With USF only being 120 miles away, he will be playing very close to his how town.

It is unclear whether the USF Bulls will seek a waiver from the NCAA that would allow Lynch to play ball immediately. Lynch being a 6-foot-6 270 pound Defensive end, the Bulls will be hopeful for the waiver to get him on the field ASAP. If the Bulls don't get a waiver, then Lynch must sit out for the 2012 season.

While at Notre Dame, Lynch was one of the nation's best freshman defenders. After an 18-14 Champs Sports Bowl loss to Florida State, in which Lynch had 5 tackles and 1.5 sacks, Seminoles QB E.J> Manuel predicted Lynch would be "All-World" in future years.

It will be interesting to see what will happen with Lynch, and whether or not he will receive a waiver or not to be able to play for USF this season. I don't think it will be good for him if he does not receive the waiver and cannot play this season. That could hurt him in the long run with not getting the experense that he needs to make it at the next level.

I will keep you up to date as soon as I hear what is happening with the newest member of the USF Bulls.

Until next time,
You keep doing what you do, and I'll keep you up to date with everything sports.

Pens Fall to Philly

Hey All,

Tonight the Pittsburgh Penguins played a critical game 6 in Philadelphia. The Pens didn't look like they were all there in today's game. The Pens would lose this game by the score of 5-1.

From the drop of the puck, the Flyers just seemed to want this game more then the Pens. The game started with a big hit to Crosby and followed by Flyers goal within the first 32 seconds of the game. The game would go down hill from there.

The Pens are officially out of the 2012 playoffs. Eliminated in the first round, which no one really saw coming. Pittsburgh was one of the power house teams that no one saw going out on the first round. The way these playoffs are going, there might not be any power houses left in the playoffs after the first round, which could make it a very interesting playoffs.

I can't wait to see who makes it to the finals and will be keeping you up to date with everything that goes on in the playoffs: who's still in, who's on the brink of losing their series, and who is making a strong run to the finals.

Pens Down 3-0

Hey All,

As I'm sure most of you know, it's playoff hockey time, and the Pittsburgh Penguins are taking on the Philadelphia Flyers. This afternoon, April 15 2012, was game three of the best of seven series. The Penguins dropped the first two game is pretty bad fashion.

The Flyers have had the Pens number in most of the regular season, and now carrying it over to the playoffs. This game was no different, as sparks flew in this game, along with punches and possible suspensions.

The Flyers won the game tonight 8-4 and things couldn't be looking any worse for Pittsburgh. There has been almost no Defense, the goal-tending is terrible, and the Offense isn't playing their game. Pittsburgh was rolling through the regular season because they are playing their game, and skating the puck in deep, getting it behind the goal-tender, and throwing pucks to the net, and trying to get rebounds. Now that it's the playoffs they are not doing the basics and they are playing like crap to be honest. If they don't get back to what they do best, this is going to be the end as of Wednesday in game four in Philly. It's very simple, if they play like they did today the season will be over.

Now the next thing I am going to talk about with this game is all the penalties. There was a grand total of 145 total penalties in a 60 minute game. The goals might be hard to find on a highlight reel. This one was all about the brawls more suitable for a UFC card. Three players were tossed in the first period. There was a rare fight between superstars when Crosby squared off against Giroux. No one got the better end of that scrap. But by the end, Flyers fans serenaded the Penguins with booming chants of "You can't beat us!"Each team had their top defenseman -- Pittsburgh's Kris Letang and Philadelphia's Kimmo Timonen -- tossed. So was Penguins forward Arron Asham.

But the scene ripped straight out of the pages of Ripley's came when Giroux and Crosby went at it against the backboard.

"In the end, that's really playoff hockey," Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said. "A couple of the best players in the world dropping the gloves going at it. Would I rather have G keep his gloves on? Sure. But when he's fighting Sidney Crosby, that's playoff hockey. That's this series."Flyers forward Brayden Schenn rammed Paul Martin into the boards, turned around and was crosschecked in the upper body by Asham. Asham jumped a defenseless Schenn and connected with a vicious right to earn the match penalty -- a penalty imposed on a player who deliberately attempts to injure or who deliberately injures an opponent in any manner. Asham could get suspended for the punch. As the game wound down, Crosby yanked the back of Scott Hartnell's jersey and the fireworks went off again. Simmonds, Neal and Pittsburgh's Craig Adams also were socked with penalties. The slugfest on the ice overshadowed the one on the scoreboard.

All in all this can't happen next game on Wednesday otherwise the Penguins Stanley Cup run will be over. They need to calm down, play their game and play better Defense. This series should not be this lopsided these are two very good teams but right now they Flyers are showing they want it more. The Pens better get hungry and get hungry fast otherwise this is going to go by and they won't even notice they lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Until next time,

Pens Clinch Home Ice

Hey All,

Today the Pittsburgh Penguins took on the New York Rangers at Console Energy Center. This was a critical game for the pens, as they are fighting for home ice in the first round of the playoffs.

The Pens made this game look easy as they single handedly beat the Rangers by a score of 5-2. The game was played on the game on their terms. They got the puck in deep behind the D and forced them to turn their backs to the Penguins.

There was a bit of a bad call in the 3rd period of the game. Orpike was at center ice when a Ranger player came across and Orpike didn't see him until late. He tried to get out of the way, but was unable to, and the two hit knee to knee. They gave Brookes a 5 minute major penalty, and he was told to go to the locker room, seeing how there was only 4 minutes to go in the game. There shouldn't have been a major penalty. This was not intentional by any means. But not much that can be done about it now.

The Pens have one more game of the regular season this Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers. This game would of had more meaning until today's win. There is no way that the Flyers can catch the Pens in point to get home ice. Can't wait to see if the Pens will rest some of their stars or will they play them so that they don't get rusty. Either way I'll be here to keep you up to date on what happens.

Until next time,

Fantasy Baseball Prodictions

Hey All,

When most think about fantasy sports they think about one thing, drafting good players. There are two different types of players that you can draft, sleepers and breakouts. But most don't really understand what the terms mean. Sleeper is someone who gets overlooked in the draft for one reason or another. A breakout is someone who goes from good to great. I am here to help you out with some picks that could help your fantasy baseball team out. This week we will be getting into the AL picks.

First on my list is Right Handed Pitchers (RHP) Michael Pineda of the New York Yankees. Some potential numbers for him are 17-8 with a ERA of 3.60 over 200 Strikeouts and a WHIP of over 1.100. This was going to be one of the best starters in baseball, and he looked like it at times out of the gate last season. There is some concern about his weight this spring and his noticeable decline in velocity, but his second full season in the majors could make him a more consistent force. If he regains his velocity and stays healthy, he will help a lot of fantasy owners win titles this season. He'll win a lot of games behind that offense.

Sticking with the pitchers, another RHP comes to mind. That is Andrew Bailey of the Boston Red Sox. Some numbers for him are 3-1 an ERA of 2.05 only 70 K's and WHIP of over 1.000 and 40 Saves. Bailey was the AL Rookie of the Year in 2009, but he hasn't made it through a full season healthy since. He has averaged a steady 25 saves per year, but in Boston, he could develop into a 40-save fantasy must-have. The question is health and it won't be something that can be proven until he pitches a full season. It is noteworthy Bailey is in his prime at age 27 and in his money-making arbitration years. It is time to step forward and get paid.

For another starting pitcher to look at would be that of David Price of the Tampa Bay Rays. He is a Left Handed Pitcher (LHP) and can put up some great numbers. He could go 21-7 have an ERA of almost 3.00 over 220 Strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.125. It is hard to believe Price was a sub-.500 pitcher for a postseason team if you look at the peripherals. Price hasn't been an elite fantasy ace for a full season yet, but this figures to be the year as he enters his prime at age 27. Some might consider James Shields over him on draft day, but that would be a mistake. Price has Cy Young talent and has built up for what should be the best season of his career. He is ready to absolutely take off.

Another LHP to look at is Baltimore Orioles Zach Britton. He will be a .500 pitcher as far as records are concerned but I'm not sure about his numbers for next season. If you look at his full-season numbers, it will be hard to remember the start he got off to last season. He was 5-2 with a 2.35 ERA through his first 10 starts, eight of them quality starts. Britton might not have come with the hype of Brian Matusz, but he certainly has the juice to be a front-line starter. He potentially is a great last-round pick, and a sleeper as much as a breakout.

In the way of fielding someone who should be looked at is Brett Lawrie 3rd Basemen (3B) for the Toronto Blue Jays. In a quarter of a season as a rookie, Lawrie posted .293-9-25-26-7. You cannot project 36-100-104-28, but it is clear Lawrie has the potential to be one of the best fantasy third basemen in a hurry. He will be tricky to pick at the right value, but watch the Average Draft Position (currently 54th overall on MockDraftCentral.com and 81st on CBSSports.com). You probably have to draft him by early Round 5 to be sure you get him.

Gordon Beckham is another good fielder to look at for you fantasy team. He's a 2nd Basemen (2B) for the Chicago White Sox's and should help your team. When he came up in '09, he looked like a future leader at second base in fantasy. Now he looks like mixed-league cannon fodder. It is easy to forget he is still just 25-years old. New manager Robin Ventura went through a slow start and broke through, so the new manager should help get the best out of this lost talent.

For your 1st Basemen (1B) you should look in the way of Kansas City Royals Eric Hosmer. The 22-year old didn't look like a 21-year-old rookie last season, going .293-19-78-66-11 (.334-.465) in what amounted to a five-month season. It is pretty clear we are looking at a future fantasy star that can go .300-30-100-100 annually. It won't take much more maturation for him to reach those levels even this year.

Last but not least holding down the fort behind the plate I would go with Minnesota Twins Catchers (C) Ryan Doumit. Doumit just might be in the perfect situation, if healthy. He has never played a full season, passing 400 at-bats just twice, but he is slotting as a DH and can also retain catcher eligibility. That makes him a superb sleeper at the thin catcher position. He might even be capable of posting the above numbers that would make him a top-five fantasy backstop.

These players should be a good addition to anyone's team coming out of the AL. I'm still doing my research for the NL and will get those to you as soon as I'm finished with that.

Until next time,
